Many patients who come to us looking for dental implants have previously been told they weren’t a suitable candidate for the treatment. This is because traditional dental implants cannot be placed in patients who have suffered significant bone loss in the jaw.

This can, in some cases, be treated with a bone graft, but for anyone hoping to avoid lengthy surgical procedures, or who aren’t suitable candidates for bone grafting, subperiosteal implants could be a suitable alternative instead.

What is the treatment process?

These implants work differently from traditional implants, which use titanium screws to act as the new tooth root and are placed directly into the jawbone. In cases where the bone density is insufficient, subperiosteal implants instead sit on top of the jaw and are held in place beneath the gums through the use of titanium fixation screws.

This specialist option uses a completely different design and technique to traditional implants. Custom-made to fit around, instead of in, the jawbone, your personal prosthesis will be held in place via titanium fixation screws.

I had a dental clean, while the hygienist was working on me I already knew I was going to come back for another clean. Hygienist recommended coming back after 6 months I will definitely will be back. The atmosphere is good, calm and clean. They accommodated me even though I was running a bit late. Nice interior and smells good too. They had a TV on the ceiling too 😅 which I thought was really helpful for distraction.
